Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga is a dynamic and athletic form of hatha yoga, made up of six series or levels, with a fixed order of postures. It is rooted in vinyasa, the flowing movements between postures with a focus on energy and breath. While it is a very physical practice, it also promotes mental clarity and inner peace. During all practices at Yoga Barn Retford we incorporate traditional philosophy often using Sansktrit terms during practice.
Yoga Nidra
At Yoga Barn Retford Yogic sleep brings us to a state of deep relaxation, verging on sleep, where our senses, intellect, and mind can completely let go and rest. In this dreamless sleep, we are free from the concepts of time, space and reason. When this happens, brain activity reduces and the body goes into a healing state, removing toxins at a cellular level, refreshing the mind, and eliminating emotional baggage from the subconscious. As a result, one hour of this psychic slumber is said to give the same benefit as four hours of sleep.
Aerial Yoga
You can be fully supported by the silks even lying down entirely in a supported hammock or wrap the silks around particular body parts, keeping other parts on the floor and incorporate into supported strength training. Hanging fully or suspending individual body parts is believed to create traction and open your body more gently and intuitively than when you’re on the floor. The silks and ropes can also be helpful for balance and strength creating a pulling action.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa Yoga is a breath based flowing practice supporting correct alignment and mindfulness. Students will experience a comprehensive, balanced yoga class with expert instruction throughout the class. Working on breath-balance-movement also incorporating traditional philosophy into all practices at Yoga Barn Retford.
